From Electric Avenue to Baker Street, London’s librarians will be curating a musical mash-up from across the city, to celebrate the launch of Cityread London 2013.

The evening will be opened by Sebastian Faulks, author of this year’s Cityread title A Week in December, followed by a playlist inspired by musical talent from all 33 London boroughs. So whether it’s Adele from Tottenham, The Who smashing instruments in Harrow or the Wombles of Wimbledon, put on your dancing shoes and come and join us to celebrate the launch of Cityread 2013.

Drinks will be served from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, speeches at 6pm.

About Cityread London 2013

At Cityread London, our mission is to bring reading to life for Londoners.  United by a single book we inspire new readers, build reading communities and shine a light on libraries, the literacy hubs of London.

Cityread 2013 rolls into town again on 2 April, and this year we’re reading A Week in December by Sebastian Faulks. This state-of-the-nation novel set in London on the eve of the financial crash in 2007 explores themes such as terrorism, reality TV and drug addiction. Join us as we discover the seven main characters as they navigate their way through seven days in the capital.

Taking the themes of the novel as a starting point, we’ve lined up an amazing month of events taking place across London. Join a library book group, discover the history of the Tube, or swing by your local cinema. Or you can take part in our virtual book group without even leaving your sofa.
